Kitty

So, there is this cat, which was fluffy and orange and had a red satin ribbon collar when he picked it out from his aunt's pile of long lost stuffed animals when he was 9 months old. The kitty and the thumb definitely go together. His approaching third birthday has got us thinking....how long can we let this go on?

Wow - this will be Jackson when he is 3! Jackson has a lovey that we call Mr. Nicholas - it's a bunny and the book I am a Bunny talks about Mr. Nicholas. Anyway, Jackson is an avid thumbsucker and is definitely attached to Mr. Nicholas. Your little ones are SO adorable! I love staying caught up on your blog-

we didn't have the thumb problem (pacifier-- those just "disappear" one day), but we had a kitty too. Actually a whole troop of rotating ones. the knappiest favorite one eventually got demoted for some other stuffed animal sometime during his 4th year, so in my opinion these things often resolve themselves. He still likes stuffed animals, but they trade off and he doesn't NEED them the same way he did at Silas' age. Also, we did have a party for giving up the gross blanket that accompanied the kitty when he was jealous of his little sister's party for her pacifier disappearing :) Just a few balloons, a pie, and a pez despenser, ha ha!

This picture will make you cry one day. We got rid of a lot at three and just kept bringing it up right before the birtday. "Wow- you are almost three- almost time to give up your paci and be a big boy." Time to give up diapers since you are almost three."(we took our time- I can't belive your baby girl is starting at 17 mos!). So on the day of his birthday we moved to the big boy bed (again, had taken our time) and got rid of the pacifier. No drama.
